The new traveler data registry of the Ministry of the Interior came into force this Monday, December 2.
Travelers must provide more than 50 personal information when making their reservations.
The objective is security, but the affected activities – accommodation, rent-a-car and travel agencies – have repeatedly expressed their opposition to its activation.
The Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations (CEHAT) has warned of the “serious impact” that the new registry will have on the privacy of tourists and the “disproportionate bureaucratic burden” that its application will entail for companies.
